Call Admission Control (CAC) applies to real-time media traffic and but not to data traffic. CAC complements Quality of Service (QOS) capabilities and performs the following:·      

  • Protects voice traffic from the negative effects of other data traffic.

  • Prevents excess voice traffic and congestion on the network.

  • Rejects calls when insufficient bandwidth is present.

There are often several ways to implement CAC in an SBC/PBX to and limit the number of calls. However, these methods are not typically required since the Peeredge Switches can be configured for CAC. Once this limit is reached the , Peeredge Switches will reject additional calls.
