E.164 is an international standard that defines a numbering plan for the worldwide public switched telephone network (PSTN) as well as some other data networks.

E.164 numbers can have a maximum of fifteen digits and are usually written as follows: [+][country code][subscriber number including area code]. An example of a US number in the E. 164 format is +16175551212.

The Peeredge Switch fully supports E.164 numbers but the [+] is not used.

For example, when adding or uploading numbers to the Numbering page of an Origination Routplan do not include the [+].
